Race Driver: Grid is an open-world racing game developed and released by Codemasters for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and OS X. It's the seventh game in the popular TOCA Franchise. In this game, you will take up the challenge of competing in a series of high speed races all around the world. You have to learn more than the basics of driving a car, because each race brings new challenges to handle and various ways to overcome the obstacles. For example, you'll need to learn how to maneuver your car on different kinds of tracks, and also use advanced braking and steering techniques. Other features include online and multiplayer options, a user-created track editor, as well as numerous customizable options such as track layouts, cars, and other aspects that can be adjusted or changed in order to create the exact track that you want.
As you compete with others online or against the computer, you will learn how to use several key racing techniques such as drifting, changing gears (especially helpful when driving on wet tracks), pitting two cars against each other, and even getting an ideal weight distribution for your car so that you'll feel most comfortable driving it. Apart from these features, there are several other options such as customizing the appearance of the track, changing the background image, controlling the speed of the cars, controlling the weather, and collecting and storing various data. All these features are available in the downloadable version of the game.
The main story line of the game revolves around Fernando Alonso, a Formula One race driver who is struggling to keep his career alive. He joins forces with talented race driver Koolhaas to try and save their relationship which has taken a turn for the worse due to Koolhaas' cheating and reckless driving. As in any other case, you will have to use some tricky techniques to win the race. You can switch between Koolhaas and Fernando as you take control of the situation but you can't do much else. The action is fast and you'll have to use everything you learned in the Career mode to complete the game.
